It's been a long time coming, but I'm finally getting around to writing about my daughter's birthday party. Typically, we keep things simple with a family dinner and cake, but as she's gotten older, she's developed a love for spending time with friends and having them over to play.
So, for her most recent birthday, I decided to throw her a big party with all of her pals. We rented out this bouncy swimming pool, had my friends over to help me set up the backdrop, and blow out the balloons. Although that experience did make me realize how difficult party setup is. Blowing balloons is hard especially when you don’t have the right tools!
A lot of my friends are in the food and beverage industry, so it was not hard to get one of them to help catered the party with delicious fuss-free food!
For the cake, she had been requesting a Frozen-themed party for a whole year, so I knew I had to deliver.
To be safe, I opted for a two-tier cake with both vanilla and dark chocolate flavors. For the bottom tier, we used an eggless vanilla cake with homemade strawberry jam and cream cheese frosting. For the top tier, we went with a completely vegan dark chocolate cake with dark chocolate buttercream made from dark chocolate pastry cream.
Although I typically prefer whipped cream frosting, I didn't want to risk compromising the structural integrity of the cake. Instead, we played with patterns and piping, creating little swirls and adding sprinkles to make it Frozen-themed. We also added a few toppers to really bring the theme to life.
Overall, I was pleased with how the cake turned out, and more importantly, my daughter was thrilled with her party. We received many compliments on the cake, too!
